Is there any way to duplicate a recording I made on HDD?

The recording is too long for a single DVD. I would like to
divide it but leave the original undivided (as divided items cannot be
re-combined later?) and then work on the copy.

I cannot find any function for this.

This can sadly not be achieved by copying to a DVD first, due to the
size of the recording,

any help is appreciated.

Try dual layer or blue ray (unless your stocks just tanked!).

I don't know of a way to physically duplicate an HDD recording but, if you
have a second HDD recorder, you could dub it from one to the other.

Rather than physically dividing your original, why not just create a couple
of play lists, Part 1 and Part 2, which comprise the appropriate chapters
from the (undivided) original? This is easy to do with my Panasonic
recorder, also possible with my older JVC. I'd be surprised if you can't do
it with the Pioneer.

On this Pioneer I believe you can do it by using the Copy List
function. In this list you can edit ("erase" the part you don't want
to be copied) without affecting the HDD original. At least this is how
mine works. (I have a Sony that 'is' a Pioneer inside). Please try on
test title first ;)
